Magnetic Therapy
Magnetic therapy is a complementary or alternative method of pain relief and affects the body through the circulatory system, the nervous system and the endocrine system. It is constantly penetrating all particles, right down to the atom.
For therapeutic purposes magnetic fields come from static magnets or from electrically generated pulsed magnetic fields. These magnetic energy fields speed up the blood supply allowing more oxygen to enter the bloodstream. This enhances the body's own ability to increase circulation to areas of injury, which in turn improves the efficiency of blood flow, gets more oxygen to cell tissues and allows efficient absorption of nutrients.
At the sight of injury, toxins gather and inflammation occurs. Magnetic therapy helps the body naturally decrease the toxins in the blood therefore assisting the body's own defence mechanism and promoting physical health.
Experiments with thermography have shown an increase in blood flow with the use of magnets. Therefore conditions which benefit from improvements in circulation are highly likely to respond positively to the use of magnotherapy, including:
For horses: Arthritis, Sore muscles, Tendon problems, Bruising, Stiffness, Sore or bruised feet, Poor hoof growth, Navicular, Laminitis, tying up, strains/sprains/injured muscles, acute/chronic injuries and any injury/condition that would benefit from improved circulation.
For dogs: Arthritis, sore backs, bruising, swellings, sprains and strains, Hip Dysplasia, tiredness, muscle damage, stiffness and soreness.
For us: Acne, bursitis, osteoarthritis, allergies, cataracts, high blood pressure, poor circulation, asthma, chronic fatigue syndrome, arthritis, back ache, colitis, insomnia, sinus congestion, bunions, cramps, burns, earache, tendonitis, migraine.
Magnotherapy can also be used to help prevent injury to an already weak or vulnerable area, for cold backed horses, and to help alleviate muscle stiffness after strenuous exercise.
